Part of Main Street in Battle Ground to close for railroad fixes

A small section of East Main Street will close for a railroad crossing repair project next week.

The closure begins on Tuesday and is scheduled to conclude no later than Friday. It will shut down an area of road just east of Grace Avenue.

In that span, crews will rebuild the subgrade, installing new rails, ties and concrete panels. When it’s done, the stability of the tracks and the roadway should be improved.

While the project continues, drivers heading east or west will be able to detour on Grace and Fairgrounds avenues. The project is not expected to block access to businesses or the Battle Ground Community Center, which will remain open.

For more details on the road closure, contact Scott Sawyer, the city’s public works director, at 360-342-5075 or scott.sawyer@cityofbg.org.
