A pair of seventh-inning rallies on Friday advanced the Woodland Beavers to the semifinals of the Class 2A state softball tournament at Carlon Park in Selah.

Woodland will take on White River at 10 a.m. Saturday in the semifinals. A win would put the Beavers into the state championship game at 2 p.m. A loss in the semifinals would put the Beavers into the third-place semifinals at noon.

Woodland (22-5) reached the semifinals by beating Fife 6-5 and beating Lynden 3-2, both in dramatic fashion.

In the quarterfinal win over Lynden, Woodland pitcher Haylee Michaud delivered the game-winning two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning. Lynden led 2-0 before Jessica Flanagan hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth.

Lynden (23-2) had not lost since its season opener against Class 3A Ferndale.

As thrilling as the quarterfinal comeback was, the first-round win on Friday morning was remarkable.

Fife took a 5-2 lead into the seventh inning. But run-scoring hits from Flanagan, Kendall Grell, Reanna Fitzgerald, and Addie Perkins gave the Beavers the lead. Flanagan, Grell and Fitzgerald hit doubles and Perkins knocked in the go-ahead run with a single.

White River of Buckley (25-1) beat host Selah 7-6 in the quarterfinals on Friday. White River was the South Puget Sound League Class 2A champion. The Fife team Woodland beat in the quarterfinals finished third in that league.
