PORTLAND — Portland Police say officers shot a suicidal man outside a Portland hospital after he fired a gun.
Medical personnel were at the scene and provided aid to the man after the Friday morning shooting.
The area around Good Samaritan Hospital in Northwest Portland was expected to be closed for several hours. Police say patients with scheduled appointments should call their doctor’s office to confirm whether they should show up.
Officers responded to the area shortly before 6 a.m. after receiving reports that a man in the parking lot was holding a gun to his head.
Police contained the area around him and crisis negotiators spoke with him.
