Letter: Warnings add difficulty to solutions

By Brett W. Anderson, Vancouver
Published: November 12, 2015, 6:00am

It was very sad to read the warning the city of Vancouver issued to the homeless that they need to clear out their shelters and if not compliant, will be cited in violation of city ordinance along with those found sleeping in their vehicles.

Any city official, law enforcement official or resident who supports this practice is a bigger problem to society than the homeless population is. Any person seeing the value of making moral decisions and acting on them should see this as an immoral act against the poor. It hurts us as a society because it tells our children such actions are reasonable. Laws should be morally correct.

Please voice your opinions about this crime by our city officials. The homeless population will just help fill jail beds. They work to make things more difficult for them to overcome homelessness.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
