Letter: Get behind Sanders

I’m having a difficult time understanding how the Third Way has taken such a death grip on the Democratic Party. The Third Way, then called the Democratic Leadership Council, was started at the end Bill Clinton’s presidency. The idea was to prevent the party from returning to liberal policies. Instead, leaders decided to move to a more centrist policy position. In some cases, their policies were actually right-leaning.

Now DNC leader Debbie Wasserman Schultz is doing whatever she can to get another Third Way candidate elected, in Hillary Clinton. She limited the Democratic Party debates to six, and required all debates be sanctioned by the DNC or the candidates would be prevented from future debates.

Hillary supporters are much the same as ignorant Republican voters who vote against their own interests. As soon as Hillary is elected, all the flips she’s made, like “no” on Trans-Pacific Partnership, “no” on the Keystone XL pipeline, will get flopped back to where she was before Bernie Sanders forced her to take those positions in order to compete with him.

There is only one candidate who will do what he says and has done so for 30 years. That is Bernie Sanders. He’s serious about making this country rebound from its recent depths. He can’t do it himself, but his supporters like me and the millions who have contributed to him will force the issues with our existing corporate politicos.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
