Spotlight on Youth

LIBRARY WRITING CONTEST WINNERS

Six middle- and high-school writers were named winners in Fort Vancouver Regional Library’s annual Imagine Ink writing contest. The 420 entries of 1,000 words or fewer were judged by library staff.

Middle-school winners are Mailei Brodniak, an eighth-grader at Vancouver iTech Preparatory with “My Last Words,” first place; Sandra Fachiol, an eighth-grader at Chief Umtuch Middle School with “Flight 93,” second place; and Kaya Dunn, an eighth-grader at Vancouver School of Arts and Academics with “Zenetha,” third place.

High-school winners are Chardy Probst, a sophomore at CAM Academy with “Dear Mr. Wright,” first place; Rebekah Muir, a sophomore at Washougal High School with “The Writer,” second place; and Ksenia Phelps, a homeschooled senior from Goldendale with “The Bee’s Friend,” third place.
