PORTLAND — Portland police have arrested a 37-year-old man who they say attacked his father with a hatchet-like weapon and then refused to come out of the mobile home.

Police say Jesse Jones was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on Saturday morning. He was charged with attempted murder and assault.

East Precinct officers were called to the mobile home at about 3 a.m. Saturday on the report of an assault between family members. Officers say the son attacked his father, causing serious but not life-threatening injuries.

When the son refused to come out, officers called in the Crisis Negotiation Team and shut down the street. Jones was later taken into custody without the use of force.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
