COLUMBUS, Ohio — A former Ohio State University employee shot and killed himself in a gallery at the campus’ contemporary art museum on Sunday after vandalizing some artwork, according to campus police.
No one else was injured in the shooting, which was reported at 11:20 a.m. at the Wexner Center for the Arts. It happened shortly after the museum was scheduled to open for the day with a Picasso-inspired show on display.
The museum is closed until further notice as the investigation continues. The museum, located north of downtown Columbus at a main entrance to the campus, includes a movie theater, concert space, gift shop and cafe.
The university did not identify the man, who last worked for the school in 2009, said the university’s Acting Police Chief Craig Stone.
