EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — A western Oregon woman is suing the U.S. Postal Service for failing to fire a letter carrier who she says harassed and assaulted women on his route for a decade.

The Oregonian reports the 77-year-old woman, of Albany, filed a lawsuit Monday, alleging the government was negligent in failing to take action against 50-year-old Daniel Gray. She claims that failure allowed him to sexually assault her in 2013.

Gray is serving a six-year prison term after being convicted last year of breaking into the woman’s home and attacking her.

The lawsuit says between 2002 and 2012, multiple women on Gray’s route complained that he had made sexually suggestive comments and tried to pursue them for dates.

A U.S. Postal Inspection Service spokesman didn’t return requests for comment.
