BREMERTON — Bremerton police have arrested a 16-year-old in connection to the torture and burning of a cat that was later euthanized due to the injuries.

Police said they arrested the boy Wednesday after interviewing him about the Sunday night incident.

Police say the teen told them he used butane as an accelerant. He is being held at a juvenile detention center while prosecutors determine whether to charge him with felony animal cruelty.

A man out walking Sunday night reported seeing something on fire that was moving.

Officers arrived to find the cat no longer on fire but suffering from burns on its back, tail and head. It was taken to a veterinarian where it was euthanized.
