Letter: Our culture glorifies guns

It’s not the National Rifle Association. It’s not greater gun regulations. It’s not politicians. It’s not victims.

It’s the folks who thrive on making violent television series, violent films, video games, and toys.

I watched a weekly television show I enjoy and muted the incessant parade of commercials. Each pointing many guns, massive guns, exploding police cars, murder in my face. That’s when it hit me — guns are the glorified stars of our entertainment.

Violence looks exciting. Guns are sexy. Guns are power.

At the risk of stating the obvious — you who create this misery, you who promote it, you who infect us with it, you who are making big money doing so — stop. When you realize you are very involved in the violence that permeates our psyche and our society, you will realize you have true power to make change. It doesn’t involve free speech. It does involve morality. Are you willing?
