What happened this past week in Clark College athletics:

MEN’S SOCCER

Notable: Clark lost at Chemeketa 2-1 in its only match last week.

Record: 7-4-2 overall, 6-2-1 (19 points, 1st place) NWAC South. Ranked 4th in Oct. 15 coaches poll.

This week: Clark at Rogue, 5 p.m. Wednesday at Medford, Ore.; Portland CC vs. Clark, 2 p.m. Friday at Harmony Sports Complex.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Notable: Clark suffered its first loss of the season on Sunday at Treasure Valley, 4-0. The Penguins beat Lane on Wednesday 2-0 with Carla Ruiz recording the shutout in goal with three saves.

Record: 10-1-3 overall, 7-0-2 (23 points, 1st place) NWAC South. Ranked 5th in Oct. 15 coaches poll.

This week: Clark at Rogue, 3 p.m. Wednesday at Medford, Ore.; Clackamas at Clark, noon Saturday.

VOLLEYBALL

Notable: Clark topped Mt. Hood 3-1 in NWAC South play. The Penguins went 2-2 at the Chemeketa Crossover.

Record: 16-11 overall, 3-2 NWAC South (3rd place).

This week: Chemeketa at Clark, 6 p.m. Wednesday (Think Pink Night at O’Connell Center); Linn-Benton at Clark, 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

CROSS COUNTRY

Notable: Clark’s James Breen and Sam Garvin went 1-2 at the Mike Hodges Invitational at Clackamas on Saturday. Breen, a Heritage High grad, went 25:16.9 on the 8K course and Garvin, a Mountain View grad, was 25:32.9. The Clark men were third out of seven teams. Clark’s Melissa Starr placed seventh overall in the 5K women’s race in 19:22.0 as the Penguins finished second out of seven teams.

Next meet: The Penguins are scheduled to take part in the Southern Regional Championship, Oct. 30 at Clackamas.
