Letter: Poor planning prevents speeding

By Richard Colburn, Vancouver
Published: October 21, 2015, 6:00am

From time to time, I see letters here that refer to motorists speeding in Vancouver. I could relate to that if you think that 20 mph is actually speeding. There is so much traffic in Vancouver that speeding is nigh impossible. Moreover, Vancouver has the longest traffic lights, most speed bumps and lowest speed limits of any city I’ve driven in on five different continents. This makes for the slowest drivers found anywhere.

This situation will only get worse because the growth that is taking place in the city is not accompanied by a corresponding upgrade in transportation infrastructure. Nice civic planning there. Speeding? Not on your life, it simply is impossible.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
