I am responding to an Aug. 29 story, “Parks fade as funds dry up,” regarding the deplorable conditions of some of our city’s parks. I would like to further comment on the negligence and lack of maintenance on medians and open spaces. Could it be that the city’s priority, focus and money is on the waterfront project? If this is so, I don’t think this should take precedence over maintaining the grounds of our city and parks. We, as taxpayers, deserve to live in a city we can be proud of and have parks we are not ashamed to show visitors. The city’s priority seems to be misplaced.
