Letter: GOP didn’t adapt to societal change

After reading Cindy Mael’s Aug. 30 letter “Steer others from ruinous behavior,” I wanted to respond. She said “the behaviors that progressives promote go against the word of God.” It’s funny to me how right-wingers think they know what God approves of and doesn’t approve of.

Take abortion, for instance. The loss of life through abortion is their focus, while they seem to care less about bombing babies with brown skin in foreign countries. Think of the thousands of children we killed in Iraq alone.

Nor do the Republicans care about gun violence in our country that affects children every day. Maybe they think that Jesus picks and chooses which babies should die.

They are anti-abortion and anti-Planned Parenthood. Huh? What’s wrong with this picture? Another oxymoron stance circulated.

Climate change deniers, warmongers, anti-gay, anti-cannabis, anti-affordable health care … listen up, GOP, it’s no longer 1950, nobody is buying what you are selling.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
