PASCO — The Pasco School District said Sunday it has reached a tentative contract agreement with striking teachers.
District spokeswoman Leslee Caul said in an email the deal was reached at 3:40 a.m. Sunday. The details of the agreement are confidential pending a ratification vote by the Pasco Association of Educators on Monday.
The union’s 1,160 teachers walked off the job on Sept. 1, which would have been the first day of school for the district’s 17,000 students. Franklin County Superior Court Judge Alex Ekstrom declared the strike illegal and ordered them to return to work, but the union voted to remain on strike anyway.
On Friday the judge fined the union $8,000 and said individual leaders could also face fines.
