OLYMPIA — Comments will be accepted until Monday on a draft policy to guide the future of development of recreation trails on lands managed by the Washington Department of Natural Resources.

To view the draft, go online to www.dnr.wa.gov/trailspolicy. To comment by email, write to trailspolicy@dnr.wa.gov or in person at a DNR regional office.

The closest office to Clark County is at 601 Bond Road, Castle Rock.

The policy will provide greater consistency and guidelines to local communities and volunteers, said Brock Milliern, DNR statewide recreation manager.

DNR officials developed the draft policy with help from a 17-member volunteer committee. Adoption of the policy is anticipated by the agency by Oct. 31.
