PORTLAND — Police have identified a man fatally shot in Northeast Portland as 30-year-old Stephen McCorvey.

A 41-year-old woman was wounded in the Wednesday gunfire. Her name has not been released.

Neighbors interviewed by The Oregonian described a chaotic scene that started with an argument between McCorvey and two men. McCorvey then joined a woman in a car that quickly went in reverse. One of the men who had been arguing with McCorvey opened fire. Several neighbors said they heard at least nine shots.

Investigators have not made an arrest or released much information. Detectives have yet to find evidence the violence was gang-related.
