COOS BAY, Ore. — A homeless man has been arrested in the hit-and-run death of a Coos Bay man killed while walking across a road to get his mail.
Coos County District Attorney Paul Frasier says the minivan believed to have struck the victim was discovered Tuesday evening, about a mile from the scene of the afternoon collision.
It was at the home of auto-repair person who said a man named Todd asked for front-end damage to be repaired. Other witnesses identified the driver as 52-year-old Edward Todd Tandy Hume.
The transient later went to the police station, where he was arrested on outstanding warrants for methamphetamine possession and failure to appear.
