Letter: Power held by superdelegates

By Beverly Hohman, Vancouver

The back-and-forth we have seen with the candidates is an amazing blob of wasted energy. People think they actually have a say in an election.

The power is in the superdelegates who (can you believe?) vote politically for their benefit, not always rationally for our benefit. The government “of the people, by the people and for the people” has been gone for a long time. This reminds me of a quote attributed to Mark Twain that says, “If voting made any difference, they wouldn’t let us do it.”

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
