Salmon Creek — Community Home Health & Hospice recently kicked off its capital campaign for a 9,000-square-foot grief support center, conference center and outdoor memorial garden in Clark County. The public center will be built next to a 10-bed hospice planned for a 6-acre site near Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center.

At last month’s Community Cares Breakfast at the Royal Oaks Country Club, people bid on masks created by youth in grief programs at Community Home Health’s Longview center. The project has received a $1 million Building Communities Fund state grant, a $250,000 M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust grant and a $50,000 grant from the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington. The Wollenberg Foundation also contributed a $100,000 matching grant.

Community Home Health has a little more than $1 million left to raise for the grief center, according to a press release. Those interested in contributing are asked to contact Julie Rinard at jrinard@chhh.org or 360-414-5408.
