Hudson’s Bay — Several local Lions Clubs recently donated $2,784 to the School of Piano Technology for the Blind. The Vancouver Lions Club contributed $800 to pay for two new piano action models. The school relies heavily upon the use of both an upright and grand piano action model to provide students practical experience in preparation for taking the Piano Technicians Guild exam, which is a requirement in order to receive piano technician certification. A combination of funding from the Fort Vancouver, Ridgefield, and Orchards/Evergreen Lions Clubs of $1,984 will provide for the design and installation of new lighted signs for the school building. “The school is very fortunate to benefit from the ongoing generous support of Lions Clubs,” Cheri Martin, executive director of the school, said in a press release. “The list of projects the Lions have funded over the years is both long and varied and we are, indeed, grateful for all they have done and continue to do for both our students and the school.”
