Washington State University Vancouver will host a panel discussion, “Holding the ‘Thin Green Line:’ From Dirty Fossil Fuels to a Carbon Neutral Future,” from 4 to 6 p.m. April 19 in the Dengerink Administration Building, Room 129, 14204 N.E. Salmon Creek Ave.

Activists and community leaders who are opposed to the Pacific Northwest becoming an export corridor for fossil fuels will talk about organizing efforts and what’s at stake in the struggle to maintain the region’s reputation for environmental awareness.

Panelists are Wilbur Slockish Jr., hereditary chief of the Klickitat Tribe; Cager Clabaugh, vice president of ILWU Local 4; Emerald Engrum, Portland Rising Tide; Alona Steinke, registered nurse, and Roben White, activist and organizer.

A reception will follow the free, public event. Local environmental groups will be on hand.

For details, contact Desiree Hellegers, WSU Vancouver Collective for Social and Environmental Justice, at 503-927-1709.

Parking is available at meters or in the Blue Daily Pay lot for $3.
