OLYMPIA — About 200 people turned out for a Saturday afternoon rally at the state Capitol to encourage super-delegates to vote for Bernie Sanders at the Democratic convention.

Although Sanders won most of the vote during the March Democratic caucuses, most of the state’s 17 super-delegates — elected officials and party leaders who aren’t bound to vote based on the caucuses — say they will support Clinton.

The News Tribune newspaper reports people at the rally held signs saying things like “It’s not democracy if you choose for us,” and “We want democracy for our superdelegates.”

By 2:30 p.m., about 200 people had turned out to support Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders, and the rally was scheduled to stretch into the evening.
