Vancouver — The community will salute Clark County high school seniors headed for military service at 7 p.m. Thursday at Skyview High School, 1300 N.W. 139th St.

The fifth annual local event — known as Our Community Salutes — recognizes high school seniors who plan to join the military after graduation.

Larry Smith, co-chairman of the Community Military Appreciation Committee, will open the program. Other scheduled speakers include Schuyler Hoss, Southwest Washington representative for Gov. Jay Inslee; Rep. Paul Harris, R-Vancouver; and Steve Webb, superintendent of Vancouver Public Schools, which is hosting the event.

The program includes the oath of enlistment. There will be a reception with cake and ice cream at 8:30 p.m.
