MEDFORD, Ore. — A southern Oregon woman has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter charges in the fatal shooting of her uncle.

Tucker Reed was arrested last week after deputies responded to a home near the Jackson-Josephine county line and found the body of 63-year-old Shane Moore.

The Mail Tribune reports that Reed’s mother said last week that her daughter was protecting her during the shooting.

The 25-year-old Reed worked as a newspaper reporter earlier this year. She has posted bail and her next court date is Aug. 15.
