VANCOUVER – Port of Vancouver commissioners on Tuesday agreed to end the lease of AbSci, a Portland biotechnology company that had planned to move to the port’s Terminal 1 waterfront property on an interim basis.

AbSci grew out of the space before it moved in, resulting in the end of the port’s biotechnology center initiative. AbSci is still eyeing property in Vancouver as it looks to expand.

“We’re pursuing an aggressive schedule for redevelopment at Terminal 1, which includes eventual demolition of portions of the Red Lion,” said interim port CEO Julianna Marler in a statement. Demolition could start on the hotel as soon as late 2017.
