BELLINGHAM — Officials say two people have been injured after their boat caught fire and exploded near Sandy Point in northern Washington state.
Bellingham’s assistant fire chief, Bill Hewett, tells The Bellingham Herald (http://bit.ly/2aXK3aF) a man suffered serious burns that were not life threatening in the Wednesday incident. A woman sustained minor injuries after being hit by flying debris.
The victims had been riding in a 25-foot gas-powered boat when the vessel caught fire.
Sandy Point Fire Chief Jim Petrie says both victims were rescued by nearby boaters who were able to get them to a ferry dock, where they were taken to a hospital.
