Police to increase DUI patrols until Labor Day

Law enforcement around Clark County will conduct extra patrols in an effort to crack down on intoxicated driving.

The increased enforcement is part of the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, which starts on Friday and runs through Labor Day. Police Departments in Battle Ground, Ridgefield and Washougal as well as the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington State Patrol are participating.

“We want drivers to be as aware of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs as they are of the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol,” Washington Traffic Safety Commission Director Darrin Grondel said in a press release.

The extra patrols are part of Target Zero, an effort to end traffic deaths and serious injuries in Washington by 2030.
