Letter: Fire pits are hazard to neighbors

By Lynn Carman, FELIDA

For years, Clark County leadership has screamed about fireplace smoke and many years ago put a stop to burn barrels, but they allow fire pit burning for recreational purposes these days. Why? Second-hand smoke is filling our neighborhoods and it’s not safe to breathe.

We’re tired of the ash and smoke that is causing health issues for our family and understand we are not alone, as the fire department hears from a lot of folks. Our requests have fallen on deaf ears at the council level as they allow this to continue. It’s not recreational if one breathes smoke for hours at a time.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
