Save the Date: Score a slam dunk with annual ode to basketball in downtown

Cheer on players of all stripes and skills during this weekend’s Hoops on the River, as the 3-on-3 tournament runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Sunday. Hundreds of teams will swarm 21 half-courts set up along Columbia and West Eighth streets, on the north and east sides of Esther Short Park. The annual Camas Vintage and Art Faire will feature more than 60 vintage, antique and upcycled vendors along with artists for an eclectic mix of items. Live music will accompany the fair along with food vendors from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 27 in downtown Camas, along Northeast Fourth Avenue. Admission is free. http://downtowncamas.com

Celebrate 100 years of the National Parks Service with the free Centennial Day, featuring demonstrations, history and exploration from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 27 at the reconstructed Fort Vancouver, 1001 E. Fifth St. Vancouver. The DH-4 Liberty Plane will be installed at the Pearson Air Museum, while a time capsule will be cemented at the Visitors Center. Oregon Symphony Waterfront Concert kicks off the symphony’s season with musical performances by local community ensembles from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m., followed a performance by the full symphony at 7 p.m. Sept. 1, ending with a fireworks show set to Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture from Gov. Counting Crows and Rob Thomas are co-headling a tour across North America, performing at 6:45 p.m. Sept. 4 at the Sunlight Supply Amphitheater, 17200 N.E. Delfel Road, Ridgefield. Hands Across the Bridge celebrates the success of sobriety as people in recovery and supporters gather to join hands along the I-5 Bridge, along with a program of speakers, from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 5. Dinner in White on the Columbia is a fundraiser to help build a bigger library in Washougal. The dinner is fashioned as a fancy picnic where participants dress in white, bring their own dinner, best tableware, decor and white tablecloth to the provided table and chairs. The CRESA Community Expo gives the public a glimpse inside the 911 Dispatch Center and the Emergency Operations Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 10. First responders from across Clark County, including SWAT, search and rescue teams, law enforcement and fire agencies will be on hand with displays and demonstrations.
