Retailer J.C. Penney Co. announced Wednesday that it is re-entering the major appliance business with a phased rollout at nearly 500 locations nationwide, including the chain’s Columbia Tech Center location.

The retailer said the rollout follows a successful three-market pilot project earlier this year. It has been 30 years since JC Penney sold major appliances. Brands will include Samsung, LG and GE.

Appliance sales will begin Friday at the Columbia Tech Center Location, 19005 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd. The complete rollout is expected to be complete early this fall. Appliances will also be sold at the company’s website, jcp.com.
