Letter: End assaults on First Amendment

By Jane Wilson, VANCOUVER
Published: December 5, 2016, 6:00am

Every day there are more and more terrifying assaults on the First Amendment. The founders made it the first because, without it, we have no republic. Freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom of and from religion, freedom of the press and more.

Except for Ohio Gov. John Kasich, I do not see any Republican with a moral compass. People are now self-censoring due to fear. I am a veteran and, when inducted, I swore an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution from all enemies, both foreign and domestic.

God help us.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
