For its size and apparent tax-friendliness, the city of Vancouver rates among the top places to retire, according to the January-February 2017 issue of Where to Retire magazine.

Magazine editor Annette Fuller said in a statement the list of tax-friendly towns is a popular annual article rating U.S. cities for their taxes on properties and sales, as well as Social Security.

Eight towns, including Vancouver, made the list.

“Cultural and entertainment opportunities, temperate climates, continuing education, excellent health care and outdoor adventures with breathtaking vistas don’t have to be sacrificed for a low tax rate,” Fuller wrote.
