1. Best of Second Saturdays

As the Water Resource Education Center’s 20th anniversary year celebration comes to a close, this Second Saturday event will share some favorite memories, moments and activities from the past 20 years. There will be hot cocoa and afternoons of lore by storyteller Will Hornyak, along with opportunities to make seasonal crafts with recycled materials and learn about frogs and creatures of the night. The event runs from 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 10 at the education center, 4600 S.E. Columbia Way, Vancouver. 2. Two holiday dances

Enjoy the collaboration of jazz musicians and dancers from Vancouver School of Arts and Academics as they celebrate the season with the “Jazzy Nutcracker,” featuring the tunes of Duke Ellington’s “Nutcracker Suite.” Performances begin at 7 p.m. Dec. 9 and 2 and 7 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Royal Durst Theater, 3101 Main St., Vancouver. Dancers from DanceWorks Performing Arts and Vancouver City Ballet will be toys, sweets and more as they perform “The Nutcracker.” All proceeds from the performance will benefit the nonprofit Friends of DanceWorks, which provides scholarships for arts education. Performances begin at 7 p.m. Dec. 9; 2 and 7 p.m. Dec. 10; and 2 and 6 p.m. Dec. 11 at Prairie High School, 11311 N.E. 119th St., Vancouver. 3. Sweater rumpus

Help overrun Uptown Village with comfy clich?s during the Ugly Holiday Sweater Pub Crawl from 4 to 9 p.m. Dec. 10. Wear your favorite, loudest holiday sweater and visit local businesses for prizes or discounts for participating attendees. Locations include Cellar 55 Tasting Room, Doomsday Brewing Safe House, I Like Comics, the Thirsty Sasquatch, Trap Door Brewery, Uptown Barrel Room, Vancouver Pizza Company, Peking Garden, Salmon Creek Outfitters, Shanahan’s Pub & Grill and more. Prizes will be given for the ugliest sweater. Tasting fees vary by venue, and some venues are for patrons 21 and older. www.uptownvillage.com

4. Lighted home

The historic Victorian Belle is known as the “Miracle of a Million Lights” during the month of December. Twinkling lights turn the Victorian house at 1441 N. McClellan St., Portland, into a holiday wonderland, open to the public for tours of the decorated house and grounds. Inside, the house will be aglow with decorated Christmas trees, antiques and heirlooms, with homemade apple cider, holiday cookies and refreshments for visitors, plus local musical performances. The Victorian Belle is open 6 to 10 p.m. daily, Dec. 10 through Dec. 23. 5. Film noir

Niche Noir Nights returns with its second event as Kiggins Theatre and Niche Wine Bar team up for a pairing of the rare film noir “Christmas Holiday” with tastings of three wines influenced by the movie. “Christmas Holiday,” starring Gene Kelly and Deanna Durbin, follows a sleazy nightclub owner and her husband who escapes from prison on a jealous warpath. The wine flight will feature three California pinot noirs. Tastings begin at 6 p.m., with the film starting at 6:30 p.m., Dec. 12 at Kiggins Theatre, 1011 Main St. Vancouver.
