Letter: Sen. Reid will not be missed

The Dec. 9 story “Reid bids farewell to Senate” is a typical gloss-over of a career marred by scandals. As well-wishers heap praise on Sen. Harry Reid, no one mentions his accomplishment of making the Judicial Watch “ten most-wanted corrupt politicians” list many times.

Over the last 10 years, the good senator has been in hot water for violating Senate rules, receiving a $1.1 million profit on the sale of land he had not owned for years, taking more than $130,000 in illegal campaign funds, and influence peddling.

But my favorite “Harry under the table” deal was getting the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste dump shut down after “we the people” had spent $15 billion on the project. I suspect this is still costing the taxpayers to keep it up.

Yup, good ol’ Harry — a politician to the end.
