Letter: Yes, Virginia (updated)

Hello, Virginia, my dear girl. I heard this Christmas you’re asking if a certain someone is real and I’m here to tell you that he is. Yes, Virginia, there is a Donald Trump and he’s really going to make America great again!

What’s that, Virginia? What does “make America great again” mean? Well, he didn’t really say. No, nobody thought to ask.

I know he’s building a wall to keep some people out. Yes, I suppose they could climb it. Yes, they could dig tunnels. Yes, I agree they haven’t fully thought it through.

He also built a beautiful hotel where foreign leaders can stay. What’s that, Virginia? Constitutionally, he can’t own it because of the what? “Emoluments clause”? Honey, you really must cut down on the C-SPAN.

You and I can agree on some things. We both love America and believe in democracy. We want our leaders to have the highest ethics and not lie. Yes, we both wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Speaking of Christmas, what would you like? An American Girl doll, a tea set and the what? The complete works of Noam Chomsky? Oh, Virginia!
