YWCA Clark County seeks film submissions for its upcoming Social Change Film Festival celebrating the nonprofit’s centennial. The April 14-15 festival at the Kiggins Theatre will showcase filmmakers around the country.
Filmmakers are invited to submit 15-minute films with the theme “In a Perfect World” to show what life would be like if the YWCA achieved its mission of eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
Visit www.filmfreeway.com/festival/InaperfectworldSocialChangeFilmFestival for more information and to submit films online. The call for entries, which began last month, ends at midnight March 18. “Submissions are open to all genres and will be judged based on content and quality as well as successfully presenting a positive vision, compelling story and a clear passion for social change,” according to the YWCA.
The Kiggins will show several films this year that touch on the subjects of equality, domestic violence and oppression, including “Black Girls in Suburbia” on May 19 in partnership with the YWCA. Proceeds from concessions during select films will go to the YWCA.
