Lake Shore — Eisenhower Elementary School literacy facilitator Tricia Hoffarth had some surprise visitors at a super hero-themed assembly on Jan. 22. Representatives from Georgia-Pacific and The Kids In Need Foundation were on hand to give her a teacher hero award for her work at the school. In addition to the award, for which Hoffarth was nominated by her peers, Georgia-Pacific donated 2,700 reams of copy paper, enough to supply 10 months of classroom paper, to the school and pencil pouches containing pencils and erasers for each student. In a news release from Georgia-Pacific, Principal Jennifer Blechschmidt said the donation was more $6,000 worth of paper, and the money that would have gone to purchasing paper can now go toward school projects this year. In the same release, Hoffarth is said to be “committed to high expectations and working to ensure that the needs of students are met.”
