PeaceHealth Southwest implements flu restrictions

PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center is implementing visitor restrictions now that flu activity has picked up in Clark County.

The hospital is asking anyone who is sick — symptoms may include a fever greater than 100 degrees and a sore throat or cough — to not visit patients. In addition, patients are asked to limit the number of visitors to two family members.

Additional precautions are also now in effect in special care units, including the adult intensive care unit, cardiovascular intensive care unit, family birth center and neonatal intensive care unit.

Extra restrictions in those units are:

• No visitors younger than 12 (except siblings).

• Visitation is limited to immediate family members (including children and significant others).

• Some units may implement visiting-hour restrictions. Check with the unit.

PeaceHealth is also reminding staff and volunteers to stay home if they are sick. Beginning Monday, all staff and volunteers who did not receive a flu shot will be required to wear masks in patient care areas.
