The Panthers claimed a share of the 2A Greater St. Helens League title with the win at Ridgefield.

Washougal (16-4, 10-2) finished tied with Mark Morris (13-7, 10-2) atop the league standings and a coin toss on Tuesday will decide the No. 1 and 2 seeds from the league. Both will get a home playoff game in the district tournament on Friday.

It’s the first girls basketball league title for the Panthers.

“I told the girls, it’s something they will never forget or anyone can take away from them,” Washougal coach Brian Oberg said. “But it all starts over again on Friday.”

Alyssa Blankenship scored 17 points, and Beyonce Bea had 15 for the Panthers, who held Ridgefield to three points in the second half.

Ridgefield (8-12, 3-9) will play a tiebreaker for fifth place against R.A. Long at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Woodland High School. The winner will have a district play-in game at Tumwater on Wednesday.
