SEATTLE — Washington’s King County is considering expanding a water taxi service in Seattle.

KING-TV reports that the King County Council is scheduled to vote Monday on the expansion. A report identified three possible new routes.

One route is between Kirkland and the University of Washington, another connects Kenmore to the university and a third would take passengers from a Ballard marina to Pier 50 in downtown Seattle.

Adding infrastructure and machinery to the identified ports would cost $23 million.

Ferry service on the county’s Lake Washington ended in 1950 after the completion of the first floating bridge.
