Video game class comes to Battle Ground

Battle Ground — Video games are coming to the classroom for students in the Battle Ground Community Education program. Starting on Feb. 19, second- through sixth-graders can take Code to the Future: Video Game Design class, which is intended to transition students from players to creators by teaching them computational thinking skills. “Our goal is to engage with the community and provide opportunities to explore an activity, learn a craft or find a fun way to get physical activity,” Jude Blocker, community education lead, said in a release from the program. Two classes are offered each Friday, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. and from 4:40 to 5:40 p.m, for the six-week course, which takes place at the program’s Lewisville location, 406 N.W. Fifth Ave., Battle Ground. Students can sign up for the class, which costs $105, at bgce.battlegroundps.org or by calling 360-885-6584.
