BELLINGHAM — A visitor to Western Washington University was escorted off campus Friday and cited by police for having a concealed weapon at the school. No one is allowed to carry a gun at Western except for police officers.

A student noticed a man in class had a gun in his waistband. He left the room and called University Police.

The university says the class was adjourned as campus police arrived and detained the man with the help of a faculty member.

The man, a friend of a Western student, was escorted off campus and told if he returned he would be trespassing. University officials say he was cited for carrying a concealed weapon without a permit on him.
