Light rail is an eventuality. Deal with it. Tolls on any Interstate 5 replacement bridge are likely as well. Deal with it. I’ve voted against light rail since 1980 because it never included I-205 and didn’t go far enough north, to 134th Street for instance, on both freeways. Going on I-5 to Clark College doesn’t make a dent in the mess on I-5, let alone I-205.
How many of you in opposition have ever ridden MAX in Portland? I have because of many training sessions from 1985 to 2011 for my job in Vancouver, and for concerts and other events. It’s easier, it costs less and it’s less stressful than trying to find parking and paying meters or lot fees. There’s less chance of an accident, and less wear and tear on your vehicle.
Vancouver and Clark County have their own “bad elements” and I don’t think the Portland “bad elements” will migrate north.
So, for all the city/county councilors, state/federal representatives/senators and all those wanna-bes, and people of Vancouver/Clark County: Grow up. It’s the 21st century, not horse and buggy days.
