GRESHAM, Ore. — An early morning fire displaced eight residents at a Gresham apartment building.

Portland Fire & Rescue joined local firefighters who arrived Thursday to find flames coming from the roof of the two-story building. Crews stopped the blaze from spreading to other buildings in the complex.

A Portland fire spokesman says three people were in the apartment where the fire started, and one of them suffered smoke inhalation. Also rescued from that apartment were a dog, a cat and a snake.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
