Letter: Thick skin no longer

By Lucas Burford, Vancouver

Can you imagine if “dumb” people were offended by intelligent people?

I understand that ignorance is commonly substituted for offense and that most “dumb” people can’t understand religion, sex, politics, etc., like most critical-thinking, intelligent people of reason.

But, imagine if you heard, “Your intellect offends me.” Do you think we are almost to that point?

It’s sad when religious lunatics will take the heat of offense more to their salvation than the offense taken to extremist feminists and racial radicals, both black and white.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
