Letter: Support Ridgefield school levy

By Joseph Vance, Ridgefield
Published: January 26, 2016, 6:00am

The Ridgefield School District believes in, and works hard to provide, “unlimited possibilities for every student.” This effort has brought a number of tangible results, including the highest graduation rate in Clark County. It is also evidenced in outstanding test scores, athletic teams, music programs, speech and debate, and many other extracurricular programs.

This success is dependent on community support. Ridgefield School District receives less than 80 percent of total education costs from state and federal sources. Local levy dollars are a necessity to preserve student programs and services. The current levy expires in 2016. Accordingly, it is vital that as a community we vote “yes” for the replacement levy in February.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
