LA CENTER — The Cowlitz Indian Tribe and Connecticut-based financial backer Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority have named Kara Fox-LaRose as general manager of the Cowlitz casino planned near La Center.

Fox-LaRose last worked as assistant general manager of Mohegan Sun Pocono in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. She will begin to lead branding and team-building efforts in coming months, according to the release.

The $500 million casino and resort project is under construction on the Cowlitz tribe’s 152-acre reservation along Interstate 5 even as a legal challenge lingers in federal courts.
