An exhibit of selections and work from James Archer’s private collection are on display through Feb. 20 at Archer Gallery in the Penguin Union Building at Clark College, 1933 Fort Vancouver Way. The Clark College Alumni Association will honor Archer, the gallery’s namesake and founding director with a free, public reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 9 in the gallery.
Archer, retired Clark art professor and alumnus, became the gallery curator in 1982, when the Index Gallery was located in the campus bookstore. In 1995, the gallery was renamed in Archer’s honor. The new gallery on the lower level of the Penguin Union Building opened in 2005.
The “Archer@Archer” exhibit features Archer’s own work, as well as his collection of artwork by Clark instructors and students. After the exhibit, all displayed works will be donated to Clark College.
